Malta, as it is commonly known, is primarily an archipelago of three islands (Malta, Gozo and Comino) strategically located in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, just fifty (50) miles south of Sicily. Due to historical reasons, probably dating back to the Phoenicians- an ancient civilization which popularised and dominated maritime trading in the Mediterranean between 1550 BC to 300 BC- and given that the Maltese islands are surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, the Maltese yachting industry is advanced (if not a leader in the Mediterranean) and well positioned to serve the needs of local and foreign yacht owners.
